Widows Heart Ministry was founded by Karen Williams, Debbie McCoy, and myself, Anna Horn, as we felt called through much prayer and seeking God’s purpose for our lives. All three of us had become widows in a period of three years and found ourselves struggling with grief, loss of identity, and purpose. Through our suffering, God placed in us a heart of compassion and desire to reach out to grieving widows. Our primary goal is to provide a setting where widows can come together monthly, share their stories, and receive healing, comfort, and renewed joy. We desire to love and encourage widows who are empty, alone, and sad so that they can experience renewed fullness of joy, find their voice, identity, and purpose. We maintain a prayer list of all the widows in our contact information to support each other for daily or special prayer needs. Together we assist local facilities occasionally with needed items and are pursuing areas we can offer our services. During this first year of ministry, we’ve primarily focused on widows in our community, however, we aspire to expand to neighboring states and beyond as God leads us. Throughout this journey, God has imparted gifts to us to use for His glory. Through His vision, and guidance, Karen has written a beautiful song for our ministry; Debbie has written inspiring words of encouragement and is prayerfully considering a book and devotional in the future. I am currently in the process of publishing a book titled “A Widow’s Heart.” I am also now writing A Widows Heart Devotional and Study Guide. Together, we are united in following Jesus and reaching out to all widows who need us.
